On March 16, 2013, the Amen Clinics Washington D.C. will host Brain Awareness Day in their new location at 10701 Parkridge Boulevard, Suite 110 Reston, Virginia 20191.
Brain Awareness Day is an international annual event designed to increase public awareness about brain health. This year, Amen Clinics Washington D.C. is partnering with the Dana Foundation, Power Brain Training Center, and Genomind for this free event.
The Dana Foundation supports brain research through grants, publications, and educational programs. Since 1996 The Dana Alliance for Brain Initiatives, a division of the Dana Foundation, has been promoting Brain Awareness Week in an effort to increase public awareness about brain health and brain research.
“The importance of educating the public about brain health throughout a person’s life is so important to both Amen Clinics and the Dana Foundation,” said Teresa Micheli,
Neurofeedback/qEEG Provider and Business Development Representative for the Amen Clinics Washington D.C. “This is a great partnership for us as well as the Dana Foundation.”
Discussions, activities, and presentations for the whole family will take place throughout the day. Activities and events will focus on educating the public about the brain, how to care for it, and helpful strategies for when a person feels their brain isn’t functioning at an optimal level. Information will be provided to help parents and kids develop healthy habits to assist with lifelong brain health, and a host of medical and alternative medicine professionals will be available to speak with the public. Free lunch will also be provided; register early to be sure to reserve your spot! Various activities will take place throughout the day, including:
- Hands on activities for the kids/families
- Tours of the new facility with explanations of SPECT scans/qEEGs
- Educational brain activities
Presentations and events will cover the aging brain, nutrition, addiction, calming the busy brain, mindfulness and meditation, brain balance and flexibility, stress management, the importance of oxygen, memory and focus, digestion, and dental health. These workshops are also free and available to the public.
In addition to the other presenters, Power Brain Training Center (PBTC) will be holding events throughout the day at the Amen Clinics Washington D.C. location. PBTC is an innovative brain education training center for adults and children. PBTC classes and programs utilize physical, emotional, and cognitive exercises designed to help people realize their innate brain potential.
The Brain Awareness Day event will coincide with the Amen Clinics Washington D.C. grand reopening. The clinic has moved into a bigger facility better suited for current and future needs as the clinic continues to grow. “I am happy to report that the D.C. office moved this past weekend and reopened its doors,” said Teresa Micheli, “We have relocated in an effort to expand the services offered to our patients.”
The new facility is designed to work with the patients and the staff to improve flow and patient care.
“We are very excited to show our D.C. community our new facility and especially happy about providing our community with exceptional care,” said Teresa Micheli. “Amen Clinics has a solid record of extraordinary patient outcomes. We hope you will all join us for our grand reopening.”
