Anthony Andrew Bottone, MD
Psychiatrist

Dr. Anthony Bottone is board certified in both general child and adolescent psychiatry. In 1996 he obtained additional qualification in geriatric psychiatry. He graduated from the State University of New York medical school in Brooklyn in 1966 and trained in psychiatry at NYU-Bellevue Medical Center and in child-adolescent psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania

Philadelphia Child Guidance Center, where he worked with Salvador Minuchin, MD. Dr. Bottone has also done postgraduate education in the history of medicine at the University of California San Francisco with Professors John De CM Saunders, Chauncy Leake and Ilsa Veith.

His clinical work has been in private practice and later locum psychiatry throughout the country and at the Wellington Hospital and Medical School in New Zealand. He helped his friend and former roommate, the late Dr. David Viscott, establish the first Viscott Institute in California. Recently, he was the chair of psychiatry at the Commonwealth Health Center in the Northern Mariana Islands, an American overseas territory in the South Pacific. While there he lectured extensively and provided training for health and school professionals as well as state officials. In 2001 he identified an unrecognized suicide epidemic and initiated a successful suicide prevention program, for which he was awarded the 2003 Governor’s Humanities Award for Teaching Human Values.

In 2005 Dr. Bottone returned to Washington State, where he resides with his wife and son. His clinical practice is open to all ages, but focuses on children and adolescents with complex cross-cultural, diagnostic and treatment needs. Just prior to joining the Amen Clinic Northwest in 2006, he worked as a child-adolescent psychiatrist at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane.

Ann Padilla
Nurse Practitioner
Ann Padilla is a nurse practitioner who specializes in psychiatry and in the care of adolescents, adults, and older adults. Ann has a master’s of nursing, and completed her education and internship at the University of Washington in Seattle. In the state of Washington, a nurse practitioner is able to diagnose and treat patients without the supervision of a physician. Also, a Washington state nurse practitioner can open their own practice. In fact, there are many clinics that are operated solely by nurse practitioners. Nurse practitioners have prescriptive authority, and are able to prescribe all the medications that a physician can. Ann has been trained by Dr. Amen to accurately read SPECT scans, and is prepared to diagnose, and treat patients just like a physician would. Ann is especially trained in listening and collaborating with the patient to develop a holistic plan of care. Ann is particularly versed in incorporating a variety of traditional and integrative medicine approaches into the patient plan of care.

Ann is experienced and qualified to diagnose and treat patients with schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, attention deficit disorder, dementia, posttraumatic stress disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, major depressive disorder, panic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, temporal lobe dysfunction, ring of fire, and other brain imaging patterns as identified by Dr. Amen. She has a particular interest and additional training in the treatment of individuals with posttraumatic stress disorder. Ann is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Washington, where she is studying to earn a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She is concurrently studying and receiving additional, intensive training in psychiatry, psychotherapy and psychopharmacology at the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington.

Cynthia Seager, M.A.
Pyschotherapist & Personal Coach
Registered Counselor (RC#00016981) in the State of Washington since 1991. Extensive additional training in various therapeutic modalities including Voice Dialogue, guided visualization, Bowenian therapy, and both adult ADD and Life Skills coaching. My therapeutic orientation tends to be pragmatic and results oriented. This is in part due to Cynthia’s personal experience as a cancer survivor, and to the range of professional experience she gained in the health care field. Various issues can play into the reasons for people’s stuck points; ranging from family, social or environmental factors, and/or physiological issues. Sometimes the major issue is simply missing skill sets. Hence she takes an individualized approach in supporting clients to identify their strengths and resources, and to make those key changes that will have the most positive impact in their lives.
