Brain & Body Makeover Challenge

The most dramatic transformation wins a trip for two to Hawaii’s Aston Waikiki Circle Resort; Andrews reveals startling truths about being on television's hit series “The Biggest Loser”

Amen Clinics, Inc. introduces the first-ever Brain and Body Makeover Challenge, which invites people nationwide to compete along with Austin Andrews, former contestant of television’s hit series “The Biggest Loser,” to transform their mental and physical health. Participants can enroll in the program online, and purchase the materials, then submit “before” and “after” pictures on or before September 3, 2012. The person with the most dramatic brain and body transformation will win a trip for two at Hawaii’s Aston Waikiki Circle resort, including a three-night stay and air fare. Other prizes will be awarded to the top 10 finishers. Click here for rules.

“Studies show that adding incentives, and group support, significantly increase the effectiveness of making lifestyle changes,” said Daniel G. Amen, MD, founder of Amen Clinics, Inc and author of five New York Times best-selling books including his latest “Use Your Brain to Change Your Age.” “So we are giving Austin, and anyone else, both incentive and a community as well as numerous tools and education which ultimately give participants the best chance to have a better brain and better life.”

During the Brain and Body Makeover Challenge, participants receive three-month access to an online community to gain accountability, helpful tools, make new friends, share ideas, recipes and much more at The Amen Solution @ Home.

Andrews, who weighed in at 396 pounds on national television, then lost 174 pounds while at the “Ranch,” quickly regained more than 65 pounds after being a finalist on the show. While on “The Biggest Loser,” Andrews says the environment was conducive to getting healthy because of the accountability and group support.

“But afterwards, I didn’t have the group or the accountability and I was back to making my own decisions,” Andrews said. “Now I recognize that ‘decisions’ are a brain health issue that I neglected.”

After taking the brain type assessment, offered in the materials, Andrews says his goal is to lose 30 pounds and improve his memory by the end of this challenge. Andrews will be sharing his progress, tips, and other experiences while on “The Biggest Loser” during the Brain and Body Makeover Challenge via blog, tweets on Twitter and Facebook posts.

“I learned the two extremes of overeating, and intensive weight loss,” said Andrews who is 22 years-old and resides in Pasadena, California. “But now I want to have a healthy brain, and a healthy life, and plan to inspire others to do the same.”

The program materials include Dr. Amen’s best-selling “Change Your Brain, Change Your Body” book and DVD, BMI wheel, Daily Journal, Questionnaire, and the “Brain Doctor’s Wife Cookbook and Coaching Guide by Tana Amen, “Your Ultimate Brain/Body Makeover” 6 CD set and three months of Elite membership to The Amen Solution at Home, a total value of $366. During the challenge, participants can buy the program for $129.95.
