Dr. Ann Verma is board-certified in psychiatry and specialty trained in Child and Adolescent medicine and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. She attended medical school at The American University Of the Caribbean School of Medicine, and completed her internship at Drexel School of medicine, residency at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine and subspecialty fellowship training at the University of South Dakota, School of Medicine. She became one of our doctors at Amen Clinics based on her interest in using a brain fitness/wellness approach in treating her patients.
Dr. Verma’s work focuses on restoring life balance, brain and body health, and helping her patients improve their functionality and satisfaction in life. She considers a wide range of interventions including nutraceuticals, medication, exercise, yoga, psychotherapy, and sleep/relaxation training. Her specialties include: Mood disorders, substance-use, Anxiety, anger and irritability.
Dr. Verma welcomes and loves treating families together, in fact during most of her initial patient encounters, all the family members were interested in coming back to Amen Clinics for treatment after being part of their loved one’s care. She has experience in treating children which absolutely involves treating a family system where the most vulnerable person, the child, is brought in for treatment because they end up becoming the most symptomatic and least functional in the family dynamics.
Dr. Verma has a passion for integrative care, working with primary doctors, functional doctors, and various other medically trained health practitioners. Additionally, she is continuing her training and education in plant-based medicine and functional medicine.
Dr. Verma has had training in forensic psychiatry and it has helped her to develop a skill set to deal with higher risk patients for suicide or homicide in determining their level of care. Therefore, it also helps in working with other mental health care systems in coordinating or providing consult. She would like to provide expert witness in cases or provide competence evaluations for living wills or next level of care. She also would like to provide consultation to schools/hospitals and or other providers as an expert in psychiatry in the greater Los Angeles and Orange County communities.
