My philosophical approach to mental health treatment is that it must incorporate a multidisciplinary approach. Though historically psychiatrists have focused on medication management, I believe that a combination of pharmacologic management, appropriate forms of psychotherapy, and a thorough knowledge of the rapidly evolving field of Cognitive Neuropsychological Research are all essential to the successful treatment of mental illness. My particular areas of interest include the affective disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. I would also like to have the opportunity to serve the Asian American community, which is poorly represented in the mental health field. In residency I received training in various therapeutic modalities: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Brief Dynamic Therapy, Family Therapy, and Psychodynamic Therapy as well as independent reading of different psychoanalytic methods.
I have worked in past as a freelance illustrator (medical and other) and painter. I am classically trained as a violinist. Pet therapy is another area of great interest to me and I have a 4 year old ragdoll cat named Franklin who is an integral part of my practice. Franklin is certified through both Pet Partners and Love on a Leash as a therapy animal.
