Dr. Mathew is a clinical psychiatrist who has more than 15 years of experience working with the full spectrum of mental health disorders. Working as an adolescent and adult psychiatrist, she has helped thousands of families address a variety of issues. Prior to joining Amen Clinics, Dr. Mathew worked in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Early on, Dr. Mathew knew that she wanted to be a doctor. Her love of neuro-science drew her initially to neurology, but during her residency she decided to follow psychiatry because she so enjoyed the intimate interaction with patients and hearing their stories. She focuses her practice today on getting to know each patient personally and giving them personalized treatment plans.
Dr. Mathew went to medical school at The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and completed her psychiatric training at Beth Israel Medical center in New York City. She chose her residency site because there is a heavier emphasis on psychotherapy compared to other programs in New York, and she wanted to incorporate that into her work. For her Bachelor’s degree, she attended Montclair State University where she majored in biology and minored in art.
Dr. Mathew truly enjoys what she does. She is known around the clinic for her smile and her infectious laughter. She is the proud mom of a busy teenage boy who is very involved in sports. In her free time, she enjoys yoga, which she has been practicing since childhood. She also enjoys visual arts, painting and photography.
