Proudly serving as the Florida Gulf Coast Clinical Outreach Manager for Amen Clinics, Mattie Velasco is a recognized leader in her field. With over 6 years of experience in the behavioral health industry concentrated in addiction treatment, Mattie previously served as Strategic Account Manager for Acadia Healthcare and Client Experience Manager for American Addiction Centers. Mattie holds her Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Administration, is certified in Addiction Studies and Project Management, and currently pursuing her second Bachelors in Leadership & Organizational Development from St. Petersburg College.
In past roles, Mattie has worked with survivors of human trafficking, and bio-tech companies focused on neuroscience testing. She founded her behavioral health lobbying practice, Open Forum Strategy, in 2023 to advance mental health policy and initiatives in the state of Florida. Mattie is also a trained peer support specialist, and has an extensive volunteer portfolio with organizations such as Law Enforcement Against Drugs & Violence, the Hillsborough County 13th Circuit Court Domestic Violence Task Force, the Pinellas Opioid Task Force, the Tampa Bay Latin Chamber, and previously served as Policy Advisory Chair for the Tampa Bay Chamber in addition to holding various leadership roles within the Emerging Leaders of Tampa Bay program.
Mattie was recognized as 2025 Woman of Promise by Girl Scouts of West Central Florida, a 2024 Deanne Dewey Roberts Award finalist by the Tampa Bay Chamber, and received the 2024 Alumni Achievement Award from St. Pete College, the 2023 Advocate of the Year Award from Floridians for Recovery, the 2022 You Go, Girl! Award from Dress for Success Tampa Bay and 2021 Apollo Award finalist recognition from her alma mater, St. Pete College. As a native of Tampa Florida, Mattie resides in Apollo Beach with her husband and two children, and as a long-time brain health advocate, Mattie is overjoyed to serve her community by bringing life changing care to those in need through Amen Clinics.
