One Woman’s Journey Back from the Edge: How an Education in Brain Health Changed Katie’s Life

Growing up in New Zealand, Katie had endured the unique challenges of struggling with ADD when little was known about the diagnosis in her family and social circles. As she got older, it only got worse. Katie would have episodes in which her outbursts became harder and harder to justify to her family.

Ultimately, Katie realized that if she didn’t get help soon, she risked drastic and permanent consequences. Her search took a major turn once someone close to her pointed out that her struggles ultimately were not due to her, but due to her brain.

Katie came out to the US to get her brain scanned, and at once the stigma around her thoughts and behavior was gone. She saw how certain anxiety centers in the brain were overloaded with activity, and what she needed to do to balance her brain.

Armed with a targeted plan for treatment, Katie made giant strides in her mental health, and as a brain health instructor she now passes on the messages that transformed her own life.
