Dr. Grin has also been in private practice since 1995. His career has focused on providing excellent personalized, culturally-sensitive and empathic clinical care with a holistic approach based on the need of each individual, while using the latest psychopharmacology, a variety of psychotherapies, natural supplements, hypnotherapy, and he is a strong proponent of art and music therapy. Dr. Grin completed his Adult Psychiatry Residency training and Fellowship in Geropsychiatry from 1990-1995 at Beth Israel Medical Center in NYC. There, he worked with the deaf community at the NY Society for the deaf, and his senior residency research project utilized SPECT brain imaging of deaf patients to better understand the biological nature of auditory hallucinations. He has completed Master’s classes in Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, trained in meditation techniques rooted in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) and has successfully incorporated these techniques in his outpatient and inpatient work. His training in PMCS & CPI crisis prevention & management has also strongly influenced his clinical work, enhancing his goal of providing care that is sensitive to patients’ trauma and in being a humane and therapeutic clinician. Dr. Grin has had a significant impact on the lives of his patients and their families. He has educated medical students, as well as residents and psychology interns. Throughout his career, he has received awards for his service to the Deaf community of NYC, the Maori community of New Zealand, and his volunteer work with victims’ families from 9/11 and Hurricane Sandy. Dr. Grin is passionate about the Amen Clinic integrative approach towards assessing and treating patients to enhance their brain health and improve their lives.
