Sonia Gera, DO

Dr. Sonia Gera is double-board certified in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry. She completed her Adult Psychiatry training at Hofstra Northwell Staten Island University Hospital where she served as Chief Resident. Dr. Gera completed her Child Psychiatry Fellowship training at Hofstra Northwell Zucker Hillside Hospital. She completed her medical school training at NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Gera completed her undergraduate education specializing in Neuroscience and Behavior at Barnard College, Columbia University. Dr. Gera’s true passion lies in the holistic treatment of psychiatric conditions. She helps patients identify and address factors that are affecting their well-being and creates an individualized plan to improve their mental and physical health. Dr. Gera is dedicated to treating and healing her patients in body, mind, and spirit. Dr. Gera works with adults and children across all age ranges. She is experienced in mood and anxiety disorders, addiction, ADD/ADHD, impulsive/disruptive behavior disorders, Autism Spectrum, psychotic disorders, OCD, and PTSD. Dr. Gera is certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) Trauma Focused Therapy and has extensive training and knowledge of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). She is also certified in Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
