Nelson Bennett, MD

Dr. Bennett proudly joined the Amen Clinics team in 2013 after  having extensive experience in multiple mental health settings. He has worked in mental health centers, crisis care centers, dual diagnosis units as well as being a medical director in the mental health department of corrections for the state of Georgia. He has more than 30 years of experience working with the full spectrum of mental health disorders. Using a combination of treatment approaches, Dr. Bennett specializes in treating patients with ADHD, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and problems with memory and concentration.     Dr. Bennett has dealt with mental health issues in his family equipping him with a sensitivity and understanding that comes from firsthand experience. Dr. Bennett is broadly trained in traditional psychiatry in Chicago as well as Emory, and also knowledgeable about integrative approaches to health care. He sees himself as a guide for his patients through the sometimes bewildering pursuit of mental and brain health, and works with them to make things as understandable as possible.        In his spare time you may find Dr. Bennett playing guitar or singing with his wife and children; sometimes his dogs may howl in harmony. With his love of knowledge Dr. Bennett brings a wealth of experience and a passion for looking at the whole picture.
