Many of my patients wanted sleeping pills. As you can imagine, it’s hard to sleep in a busy, noisy hospital. Before I gave them the pills, however, I asked if I could hypnotize them first. Almost everyone agreed, and it was very helpful.

One of my patients, a decorated World War II hero, had Parkinson’s disease and when he was in hypnotic trance for sleep, his intensive tremors went away. When I told the attending neurologist about it the next morning, he thought I was crazy. So, I repeated the exercise in front of the doctor, and the astounding results became my first clinical paper.

My sister will surely appreciate this. She has been experiencing anxieties, and she would often deprive herself of sleeping properly.   6. I find it very intriguing that hypnotherapy can treat anxiety and depression. My older sister has struggled with both of those mental health issues for the past few months. I will suggest that she look into hypnosis treatment to help reduce her feelings of anxiety and depression.

  7. Thank you for explaining that the practitioner might recommend that you stop certain habits before coming to a session such as excessive caffeine intake. I didn’t think that caffeine could be an issue when preparing for hypnotherapy before you mentioned it. I’ll have to talk to my hypnotherapist before our first appointment to see if this is something she would like for me to do before coming in next week.

  8. I loved what you wrote about eliminating unhealthy habits before beginning the treatment process. My father has been in chronic pain with arthritis for about two years. He has his mind set to resolve this at the beginning of the new year. Hypnotherapy seems like it might be worth a try.

  9. You made a good point when you said that you must choose a hypnotherapist that makes you feel comfortable to ensure the effectiveness of the therapy. This is something that I will share with my sister because she is planning to see one that can help her stop smoking. She said that she wants to use hypnotherapy to practice her mind in eliminating her desire to smoke from time to time.
