
From a young age, Dr. Prayaga was always interested in medicine and recognized the power of healing and promoting health. It was during medical school that Dr. Prayaga decided to be more interested in promoting Mental Health after recognizing that having sound mental health enables people to tackle any challenges that come their way. It was with this realization and a genuine love for working with children, Dr. Prayaga went on to pursue a career in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.
Dr. Prayaga completed his General Psychiatry training in Far Rockaway, New York and went on to do Child and Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship in Augusta University, Georgia. He is Board Certified in both General Psychiatry and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. After completing his training, he worked as an inpatient psychiatrist in the bay area for over 5 years. Although this work was very rewarding, Dr. Prayaga soon began to realize that it was incomplete and too narrow in scope. Which was how he eventually came to the Amen Clinics. With the Amen clinics, Dr. Prayaga appreciates the holistic approach to diagnosis and treatment. Dr. Prayaga recognizes the importance of treating the patient while incorporating many different modalities rather than limiting oneself to medications.
Having grown up and lived in many places around the globe, Dr. Prayaga considers himself a global citizen. This also gives him a flexible and open minded approach to life. Dr. Prayaga loves to guide patients into improving their resilience and hardiness. Dr. Prayaga’s approach to life is that hardships are guaranteed and being resilient helps us thrive despite hardships.
