Taylor has been working with adolescents and families for nearly 2 decades. In 2017 he began working as a professional mental health therapist. Prior to working at Amen Clinics he was an IT Operations Manager for a University, Federal Grant Reviewer, and even spent a year studying behavior in Rhesus and Capuchin Macaques (monkeys) with the National Institute of Health. Because of his work in the technology world, Taylor enjoys employing new and innovative technology in therapy.
He has a passion for working with children, adolescents, young adults, marriages, families, and ADHD. His approach is holistic and he draws upon many different types of therapy to help each client. The primary therapies and theories he utilizes are Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Neuro-therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Polyvagal Theory, Regulation Theory, Attachment Theory, as well as keeping his nose in the current research literature. If you work with Taylor you will likely hear him ask questions like, “What type of person (or family, or marriage) do you want to become?”
He is certified as a Facilitator for Safe and Sound Protocol (auditory acoustic vagal nerve stimulation) and has used it as a novel treatment for Spasmodic Dysphonia, Long Covid-19, OCD, ADHD, Generalized Anxiety, as well as other mental health challenges. He is also certified as a Prepare-Enrich Marriage Facilitator.
His undergraduate degree is in Psychology from Lee University, and his Master’s degree is in Counseling from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is a member of the Psi-Chi National Honors Society in Psychology.
In his free time, Taylor loves fly fishing, basketball, hiking, reading fiction, and spending time with his wonderful family.
