How Chalene Johnson Changed Her Brain and Life
Before we truly understand brain health, we tend to have many bad brain habits. Eating a lot of fast food, too much sugar, not getting enough sleep at night, working long hours and trouble focusing are all common bad habits that we’ve likely fallen victim to at some point.
Chalene Johnson came to see us in our clinic for trouble focusing but she had just assumed she “wasn’t smart” or things took longer for her to learn.
By giving our patients visibility through brain SPECT imaging to the overall health of their brain, we’re able to validate the methods of how to keep your brain healthy as you age, for optimal performance throughout your life, and to get you to truly love your brain and want to take care of it every day. Loving your brain is the first step toward creating a brain healthy life.
Our suggestions to her were to clean up her diet and improve her nutrition.
Chalene’s response, “That seemed impossible to me. I eat a really clean, unprocessed diet. So, I was confused by this suggestion. However, it led me to speak to a functional medical doctor and get a nutritional panel done. I was astonished by what the nutritional panel showed; and that led me to seek out more and more experts. This eventually led me to gut health experts, who help me realize that EVERYTHING stems back to the gut.”
Gut health has a direct impact on every single function in your body: metabolism, hormones, weight loss and your ability to lose weight, brain health, sleep, ability to focus, and how efficiently your body functions.
Chalene’s Brain SPECT Results
The results of Chalene’s brain SPECT scan revealed two important pieces of information. One, that she had multiple areas in her brain that had very low activity. The scan indicated areas of low blood flow in her brain from prior concussions. Two, our doctors were alarmed by the lumpy, bumpy appearance of her brain. We recognized that the bumpy appearance was due to chronic sleep deprivation. Chalene confirmed she could not remember the last time she had a good night’s sleep.Big Lifestyle Changes
