Dr. Jennifer Richason, MD | Atlanta Metro Area

Child, Adolescent, and Adult Psychiatrist

“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It is a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.” – Pema Chödrön

Jennifer Beckman Richason, M.D., is a board-certified outpatient psychiatrist at Amen Clinics in Atlanta, Georgia. She practices with an empathetic, non-judgmental, and integrative approach, combining biological, psychosocial, spiritual, and existential methodologies to offer personalized and respectful care. Her dedication to blending traditional treatments with complementary therapies, including nutraceuticals, supplements, mindfulness, and cognitive behavioral techniques, provides a comprehensive care spectrum tailored to each patient’s unique needs.

After earning her medical degree from the University of South Florida College of Medicine and completing her Psychiatry residency at Wake Forest University, Dr. Richason has accumulated a wealth of experience across various settings, including inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient programs (IOP). In addition to her primary role at Amen Clinics, Dr. Richason supervises psychiatric nurse practitioners at both Ideal Minds Behavioral Services and Stepping Stones Psychiatric Care. Her experience spans all ages with special interests in ADHD, OCD, anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and eating disorders, where she employs innovative therapeutic approaches tailored to individual patient needs.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Richason cherishes her time with family and loved ones. She and her current husband share a son, two daughters, and three spirited dogs. Dr. Richason’s personal adversities, including the loss of her first husband to pancreatic cancer, have profoundly shaped her understanding of grief and resilience. She embraces life fully and thrives on new adventures and relationship building, distinctly aware of the bittersweet trajectory of life’s journey.

Dr. Richason’s commitment to psychiatry is driven by a deep-seated passion for understanding and alleviating human suffering, aiming to foster a healing environment where compassion and understanding pave the way for patient recovery and well-being.
