She has also served as the medical director of an adolescent substance use treatment program in Albany, Oregon, and as the lead medication manager at a partial hospitalization program in Portland, Oregon for people experiencing psychotic and other disorders causing extreme mental states. Currently she is the primary functional medicine trainer for incoming psychiatrists at the Amen Clinic.

She has been practicing integrative mental health since 2005, after graduating from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine with a Doctor of Naturopathy.

Dr. Mendenhall, who is often described as compassionate, knowledgeable, and a good listener, is comfortable bringing the best of all worlds to her patients—from the very natural to the targeted medical, and everything in between. As a naturopathic doctor, she can prescribe both natural and prescription medications. Dr. Mendenhall’s approach always starts with the basic, but often missed, tenets of medicine: First, do no harm, treat the cause, and listen well.

When she isn’t practicing medicine, she can be found hiking in the woods with her husband, daughter, and shepherd-corgi mix, scanning the ground for wild herbs and mushrooms.
