Originally a Chicago native, Lisa moved to Los Angeles to obtain her B.F.A from Otis Art and Design College, with a focus in Fine Art Photography. She went on to graduate with honors from Loyola Marymount University in 2007 where she received her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy as well as Art Therapy. Lisa’s post graduate work was completed at Hathaway Sycamores Child and Family Services in Los Angeles, where she served as an outpatient psychotherapist and art therapist with disenfranchised children, adolescents and their families. The population with which she worked with, included patients with major depression, generalized anxiety, posttraumatic stress, interpersonal difficulties, survivors of domestic abuse as well as patients struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
After moving back to Chicago, Lisa made the decision to formally pursue her Certification in the field of Alcohol and Drug Counseling. She worked as a CADC intern at Presence Holy Family Medical Center, at their Keys to Recovery: Alcohol and Drug Rehab Center. It was here that she developed a passion for assisting each patient through their journey of recovery, from their first day at detox to providing resources for continuation of care. In April of 2018, Lisa joined Amen Clinic in Chicago, whose multidisciplinary approach made it possible to introduce her passion, and skills in the field of addiction counseling.
With over ten years of experience as a Psychotherapist, Art Therapist and Certified Addiction and Drug Counselor, Lisa’s approach to treatment is rooted in a nonjudgmental atmosphere that is both culturally sensitive, and holds respect for all gender orientations, as these considerations result in every patient’s own unique process towards recovery. Combining a supportive manner with practical, constructive feedback, Lisa serves as both a guide and coach for her patients, as they build upon their journey in life.
