Christopher Frederick, DO, is a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with significant experience treating a wide array of mental health issues. Before joining Amen Clinics, Dr. Frederick spent nine years as a faculty clinician at McGovern Medical School in the Texas Medical Center (Houston), where he specialized in helping kids and adults heal from trauma (in all its forms), as well as resolving complex psychiatric presentations. Additionally, working as the Medical Director for the PATH Program (specializing in treating combined mental and physical health issues).
Dr. Frederick’s journey working with kids started early in life, working as a junior lifeguard instructor in Pismo Beach, California. Little did he know then that he would one day be a Child(ish) Psychiatrist! His interest in medicine began to take shape while in undergraduate school at the University of California, Irvine, where he was President of Flying Samaritans, a student-led group that coordinated monthly medical trips to a small town in Mexico. The first indication of a future in psychiatry was majoring in Neurobiology. When his right brain drove him to add Art History as a second major, his future in psychiatry was assured! Dr. Frederick earned his degree in Osteopathic Medicine at the Western University of Health Sciences of the Pacific, where he learned to appreciate a holistic approach to medicine that would ultimately lead him to Amen Clinics.
Dr. Frederick thoroughly enjoys his life in South Florida. When he’s not spending time with his nephew or his bernedoodle, he likes to stay active with yoga, beach time, and creative projects, including building furniture, art projects, and raising quail.
