Dr. Kaur is an adult psychiatrist who completed her undergraduate education in exercise science and public health at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and earned her medical degree at the University of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Kitts. She completed her intern year residency in Primary Care with focus in Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Emergency Medicine, and Neurology at Coliseum Medical Center/Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. Dr. Kaur then received her general psychiatry training at Case Western Reserve University/University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, Ohio.
Dr. Kaur is passionate about and experienced in providing thoughtful, evidence-based care for patients with depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma-related disorders, bipolar spectrum disorders, anxiety, stress and adjustment problems, insomnia, and maternal mental health disorders, using recognized treatment tools such as, neuropsychopharmacology, and neuroimaging. In addition, she has extensive experience working with undergraduate and graduate students, the geriatric population, and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Dr. Kaur believes empathy and understanding are the most fundamental components of the doctor-patient relationship. She values each individual as a unified whole, consisting of mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, social, and environmental forces that simultaneously and equally affect health and well-being. Her holistic approach is to heal individuals at all levels of being, to restore and maintain a state of optimal overall health, as efficiently as possible. Dr. Kaur is fluent in speaking and writing Punjabi and Hindi.
